Bringing Italy's Language and Culture to all, through classes, workshops and events
The Italian Academy aims to provide not only language classes but to create opportunities for a community of passionate people who can share the interest about Italy and who want to communicate in Italian.
The Academy stands for Language, Culture, Community & Learning. These are the pillars that represent the essence of who we are. Our workshops and events are spread throughout the year around Cork.
We offer Italian language classes in Cork at beginner and intermediate levels. Our focus is to give the students the tools to speak the language from the very beginning. We encourage communicative language learning through interactive activities in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
In addition to our in-person courses in Cork, The Italian Academy offers online language courses using a Zoom platform. Online teaching offers many advantages such as flexibility, and the possibility of having the recording of the class to go over the notes in your own time.
We offer Italian classes in Cork to bilingual children who have one or two Italian parents and all the other children who want to learn a new language in a fun and engaging way. Our classes for children are full of literacy games, music, drama, and traditional songs.

Communicating in a foreign language is a complex multi-faceted skill. Numerous studies have indicated the benefits to learn another language at an early age and others have shown how it sharpens people's cognitive abilities whilst helping stave off dementia as they age. In other words, one of the best things you can do to keep your brain healthy is to learn a language.
It is all a matter of growing new neuronal connections that generally stop growing when you stop learning. This can be achieved at any age, provided you keep learning. It has been shown that business people make better decisions when weighing problems in a non-native tongue and that juggling multiple languages lets bilingual speakers switch between tasks with less stress and more control than monolinguistics.
You can start learning something new today and let your curiosity "keep leading you down to new path" . Next month or next year you might end up eating a homemade gelato in Piazza del Palio in Siena or sailing in Sardinia or having a Spritzer and an aperitif with new friends in Verona. The choice is yours.
